Opening Workshop of the SimLab Quantum Materials

Description

The workshop constitutes the opening event introducing the Simulation Laboratory "Quantum Materials" (SLQM) to the scientific community. This event aims at bringing together scientists from the Forschungszentrum Juelich (FZJ), RWTH Aachen University as well as research institutes in the EU region who may be interested in participating in the research and support activities of the SimLab. By sharing their work and scientific expertise the participants are given the chance to contribute to the definition of a platform allowing the mutual collaboration and prioritization of the Lab's activities. Short talks (30 minutes) are delivered by selected speakers from a number of institutes which can potentially benefit from and contribute to the Laboratory's mission. Each talk will include an overview of scientific achievements, research interests, and future challenges in the context of high-performance computing. A summarizing wrap-up session will close the workshop. Scientists from RWTH, FZJ, and neighboring institutes involved in Materials Science simulations are encouraged to take part in the workshop so as to favor exchange of scientific expertise conducive to future collaborations.
