This 2nd OpenPOWER Academia Discussion Group Workshop will take just before SC17. It will allow to bring together members of the Academia Discussion Group (ADG) with the following goals:

  • Facilitate networking among ADG members
  • Improve technical knowledge of ADG members on relevant OpenPOWER technologies
  • Allow OpenPOWER members to explore opportunities for collaboration
  • Contribute to the creation of an OpenPOWER user community

The workshop focuses on the use of OpenPOWER technologies for high-performance computing and data analysis. The workshop will promote exchange of results among the academic OpenPOWER members, enhance their technical knowledge and facilitate networking.

A large fraction of the OpenPOWER members are academic institutions. The ADG serves as a platform within the OpenPOWER Foundation for these academic members. It comprises a broad range of academic institutions with strong competence, e.g., in providing and operating high-performance computing facilities or in developing scientific applications, scalable numerical methods, new approaches for processing extreme scale data or new methods for data analytics.
